LHC Group • Myers School of Nursing

It is an exciting time to be a nursing student in the midst of the spirited national debate around health care. Nursing as a profession and nurses practicing across all specialties will continue to be integral leaders and members of the health team. University of Louisiana at Lafayette prepares the majority of the registered nurse workforce for Acadiana, and graduates are highly recruited for employment by health care institutions throughout the southern region of the United States.

We offer a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program that prepares graduates to become a registered nurse, or RN. The online RN to BSN Program provides an opportunity for nurses prepared at the diploma- and associate degree-level to obtain a BSN degree.

UL Lafayette is one of four member institutions offering the MSN degree under the auspices of the Intercollegiate Consortium for a Master of Science in Nursing (ICMSN), and includes the Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner concentrations.

At the doctoral level, there are two options for obtaining the DNP degree: BSN to DNP and Post Master’s DNP. Students enrolled in the BSN to DNP option complete requirements for eligibility to practice as an FNP in addition to earning the doctoral degree.  Advanced practice nurses and nurse executives are eligible to apply for admission to the Post Master’s DNP option.
